Organic agriculture is producing without the use
of chemical products or pesticides, aiming to
work in harmony with nature. Only using natural
resources without the application of synthetic
chemical products providing healthy food.
There are many reasons why eating organic produce
is recommended, not only because it tastes better
and has more flavor, but also because of its health
benefits. New research shows that some organic
produce is often lower in nitrates and higher in
antioxidants than conventional food.
Many of the pesticides that are used in
conventional agriculture were approved before
their carcinogenic properties could be tested.
Numerous studies show that pesticides can
adversely affect the nervous system, increase
the risk of cancer and decrease fertility.
Before a product can be labeled “organic” a
government-approved certifier inspects the
farm where the products is grown to make sure the
the farmer is following all the rules necessary to
meet USDA organic standards.
